Officiating will be Monsignor Norman Buvens, first cousin to Mrs. Lafitte, assisted by Monsignor Carson LaCaze, pastor of St. Mary of the Pines Catholic Church. Burial will be in Forest Park West. Mrs. Lafitte passed away, Wednesday, September 13, at 4:20 a.m., at Schumpert Medical Center, following a lengthy illness. Mrs. Lafitte was born in Many, and had been a resident of Shreveport for 40 years. She was a LPN at Schumpert Medical Center, and a member of St. Mary of the Pines Catholic Church. Joy was preceded in death by her father, Lois Francis Davis; and her son, Thomas Michael Lafitte. She is survived by her husband of 40 years, James E. "Jack" Lafitte of Shreveport; mother, Leattie Davis of Many; one daughter and son-in-law, Debra Lafitte Bellamy and Henry Bellamy of Shreveport; four sons and daughters-in-law, James Edward "Jimmy" and Beverly Boyett Lafitte of Shreveport, Gary Dale and Daryl Hackler Lafitte of Shreveport, John Randall and Tillie Adkins Lafitte of Lafayette, and Bruce Wayne and Daren Meshell Lafitte of Shreveport; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Francis and Hazel Davis of Freeport, Texas, and Andrew and Odessa Davis of Arlington, Texas; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Louise and Steve DeValcourt of Lafayette, and Peggy and Rurel Boswell of Natchitoches; eight grandchildren, Eric Lafitte, Chrissy Lafitte, Jennifer Lafitte, Stacy Bellamy, Mandy Lafitte, David Lafitte, and Justin Bellamy, all of Shreveport, and Christopher Lafitte of Lafayette; a number of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins; and a host of friends. Pallbearers were M. H. Wright, Keith Jackson, Calvin Hotard, Charles Hackler, R. L. Meshell, and Bobby Davis.
