Lively died Thursday, Jan. 15, 1987, at Highland Hospital in Shreveport, at the age of 68, after a short illness. He was born in Mena, Ark., and was a resident of Shreveport most of his life. He had lived in Pleasant Hill for seven years. Mr. Lively was retried from the Post Office, after 33 years, and was a member of the National Association of Postal Supervisors. He was a veteran of World War II, and served as a Marine in the South Pacific. Mr. Lively was survived by his wife, Marie Rains Lively of Pleasant Hill; a niece, Becky Scott of Albuquerque, N. M.; and a nephew, Charles Coleman of Florida. Services were held at 2 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 17, at the First Methodist Church in Pleasant Hill, with the Rev. Gayle Dean, and the Rev. Dorothy McGowen officiating. Burial was at Springridge Cemetery, under the direction of Drewett Funeral Home in Mansfield. Pallbearers ere Hugh Hardee, Sonny Hardee, Truman Durr, Bill Bryan, Roy Bridges, and John Neal.
