Mrs. R. D. Lewis

  The body of Mrs. R. D. Lewis, age 34, colored, was found in the
remains of her burned home Sunday morning.

  Darby Howard, colored, confessed to having a fight with the
Lewis woman, and leaving after the house was burning. Coroner,
Dr. L. H. Murdock, and jury rendered verdict that she came to
death by the hands of Darby Howard. On examination of the
remains, the skull was crushed. Howard is being held in the
parish jail, pending a charge of murder.
