"Buddy" Lucas passed away at 4 a.m., Tuesday, July 10, at Ochaner Foundation Hospital, New Orleans. He was 61, a native of Many, and a resident of Addis. He was a retired master electrician with Gulf States Utilities Company, with 34 years of service, and a U. S. Army veteran. Religious services were held at 11 a.m., Thursday, conducted by the Rev. Phil Spano. Burial in St. John the Baptist Catholic Church Cemetery in Brusly. Survivors include his wife, Vera Tullier Lucas of Addis; mother, Adeline Neitt Lucas of Addis; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Lee Edwin Lucas of Addis, and David T. and Patricia Gaudet Lucas of Brusly; a sister and brother-in-law, Helen L. and Eddie Gassie of Baton Rouge; and a grandson, Todd Michael Lucas of Brusly. He is preceded in death by his father, Melvin Guy Lucas Sr.; and a brother, Melvin Guy "Jiggs" Lucas Jr. Mr. Lucas was a member of V.F.W. Post No. 3785 of Addis, I.B.E.W. Local No. 2286, National Rifle Assn., past chairman, and member of Planning and Zoning Committee for Addis, lifetime member of Addis Volunteer Fire Department, and a graduate of St. John High School.
