Leggett, 40, a former Converse resident, was fatally injured in a Houston construction accident, late Friday, March 18. Leggett, an employee of a Houston waterproofing firm, was dead on arrival at Methodist Hospital in Houston, after the scaffolding on which he was working toppled, plunging him to the gravel roof of a ground level building 50 feet below. Leggett reportedly was calking a building under construction at Houston's M. D. Anderson Hospital when the scaffolding collapsed. A co-worker, Benjamin L. Matthews, 40, Houston, sustained serious injuries in the fall. Funeral services for Leggett were held at 1 p.m., Sunday, in the Green Funeral Home Chapel in Houston. A second service also was held at 2 p.m., Monday, in the First National Funeral Home Chapel in Natchitoches, Burial was in the Fern Park Cemetery of Natchitoches.
