Leslie, 86, died Saturday, Sept. 2, 2000, in Jackson Parish Hospital. He resided in Saline. Funeral services were held at 10 a.m., Monday, Sept. 4, at Strange Methodist Church, with interment following at Providence Cemetery in Ringgold. Mr. Leslie was active in many organizations, including: Member of the Many Lodge #411, Knights Temple, Leesville, 32nd Degree Scottish Rite, Shreveport; Shrine El Karubah Temple, Shreveport; Super Excellent Masters Degree Mason, Lake Charles; charter member, Sabine Parish Chamber of Commerce; charter member Forestry Association; Past President, Many Lions Club, Scouts master - Troop 80; Chairman, Salvation Army Board, Many; Co-Founder of Little League Baseball in Many; Welfare Board, Sabine Parish, Salvage & Gas Rationing Board in Many during World War II, and Louisiana Peace Officers Association. He remained a devoted supporter of Northwestern State University, and many civic organizations throughout his life. Survivors include his widow, Helen Johnson Leslie of Saline; three sons, Dan Leslie and wife Madeline of Many, Jim Leslie and wife Peggy of Jackson, and Russell Nails of Charlotte, N. C.; two daughters, Dr. Debra Nails, Okemos, Mi., and Tina Bridges and husband Mike of Natchitoches; one sister, Lola Patterson of Ft. Worth, Texas; grandchildren, Laura Leggett of Zwolle, Jessica, Matthew, and Lindsay Leslie of Many, Jake Leslie of Zachery, Brady and Abigail Nails of Charlotte, N. C., and Christopher, Lesley and Erin Bridges of Natchitoches; great grandchildren, Ashley Jason, and Amanda Leggett of Zwolle; a host of nieces, nephews, and friends; and dear friends, Susan McComic and husband Ray of Florien. Mr. Leslie was preceded in death by his father, William Henry Leslie; mother, Era Hinton Leslie; son, Billy Chandler Leslie; and wife, Judy Hatch Leslie. Pallbearers were Jarod Johnson, Kevin Johnson, Tommy Havard, Jerry Dison, Reggie Ables, Jeremy Ables, Paul Thomas, and Mark Farrant. Honorary pallbearers were Jerry Koss, Dr. Brad Johnson, Mike Bridges, Harold Johnson, Richard Johnson, J. D. Ables, Curtis Dison, Sheriff & Deputies of the Sabine Parish Sheriff's Department.
