Zion community, which was found floating in her backyard well. Mrs. Bobby Allen, a neighbor went to the Lites home early Wednesday morning to visit. She discovered Mrs. Lites was not in the house, so she decided to walk down near the pond, located at the back of the house to look for her. According to the Sheriff's Department, on the way to the pond, Mrs. Allen noticed a purse, and a pair of ladies' shoes by the well. She immediately went to the house, called several other neighbors, and they began a search for the missing woman. One neighbor, Mrs. Effie Savell, went to the well and looked in, discovering Mrs. Lites' body floating in approximately 20 feet of water. Sabine Parish Sheriff George R. Cook, and several deputies were at the scene of the accident within minutes. One of the deputies climbed down into the well, tied a rope around the body, and removed it. Deputy Coroner, Dr. V. M. John examined the body, and said he was convinced there was no foul play involved. John estimated that Mrs. Lites' body had been in the well for several hours.
