Truett (Pete) (Red) Latham died Thursday, February 11. Funeral services were held at 1 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 13, at the 1st Baptist Church of Converse, with interment following at Marthaville Cemetery. Mr. Latham was born in Converse, Aug. 20, 1927. He was a resident of Point Blank, Texas, on Lake Livingston. He graduated from Converse High School in 1945. Mr. Latham was a member of the 1945 State Championship Basketball Team, and was a four year letterman at Louisiana Tech., where he graduated in 1951. Mr. Latham received his Masters Degree from Northwestern State University in 1962. He taught and coached for two years in Louisiana, and 30 years in Texas where he retired from Deer Park, Texas schools in 1986. He was in the United States Army, where he spent 18 months in the occupation of Japan, after WWII. Survivors include his wife, Frankie Dean Rains Latham of Point Blank, Texas; children, Tina C. Corley of Dallas, Texas, James M. (Mick) Corley, and Donna Gayle Corley of Houston, Texas, and Kayla J. Langton of Nashville, Tenn., Janna L. Latham of Eugene, Ore.; two granddaughters, Ashley, and Hanna Hyde of Nashville, Tenn.; one sister Maybelle Latham Blevins of Shreveport; two brothers, R. D. Latham of Fort Worth, Texas, and Floyd Latham of Converse; and many beloved nephews and nieces. Huntsville Funeral Home, Huntsville, Texas.
