Rev. Mack Brister Sr., and Mr. Lilly's grandson, Daniel Lambert officiated. Interment was in Florien Cemetery, under the direction of Warren Meadows Funeral Home. Masonic services were held at 10 a.m., Dec. 26, at Warren Meadows Funeral Home. Mr. Lilly was the son of William Jack and Maggie Franks Lilly. He was born on September 5, 1913, in Marthaville. Mr. Lilly was a graduate of Belmont High School, and Northwestern State University, with a Masters Degree from Stephen F. Austin. Mr. Lilly was a respected educator in Sabine Parish for many years. He served as Principal at Negreet High School, and Florien High School. A veteran of World War II, having served with the Army in Italy, he was a member of V.F.W., and American Legion Post No. 0172. As a member of First Baptist Church of Florien, he served as Chairman of the Deacon Board for 14 years, was a former Sunday School Teacher, and served on numerous committees. In 1985, he was Grand Marshall of the Freestate Festival. He was a Charter Member of Florien Lions Club, and a Master Mason of Florien Lodge No. 263 F&AM. Survivors include his widow of 53 years, Mary Gladys Lilly; two daughters, Mary Lou and husband Henry Lee Davis, Bettye Marye and husband Joe R. Salter; five grandchildren; four great grandchildren; and one sister, Betty Jean Huffman. Military gravesides services were conducted by Sabine Chapter #21 Disabled American Veterans. Pallbearers were his grandsons, Brantley Salter, J. D. Salter, Jimmy Leach, W. I. Dees, W. R. Turner, and Gary Thompson. Honorary pallbearers were the Deacons of First Baptist Church of Florien.
