All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafiles.htm ********************************************** The Sabine Index James Leslie Lum - July 7, 1988 Services for James Leslie Lum, 84, of Logansport, was held at 3 p.m. Sunday, June 19 at the Logansport First Baptist Church with the Rev. Charles Hall officiating. Interment was in the Union Springs Cemetery in Sabine Parish under the direction of the Rose-Neath Funeral Home of Logansport. Masonic rites were carried out by the Mount Vernon Lodge. Mr. Lum died Friday, June 17, 1988 at his residence following a lengthy illness. He was born in Union Springs and was a lifelong resident of Logansport. Mr. Lum retired after serving 43 years as a teacher and principal in DeSoto Parish schools. He was a member of the Eastern Star and a 32nd Degree Past Master Mason in Mount Vernon and Keatchie Lodges. He was also a member of the El Karubah Shrine Temple. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Logansport where he served as Deacon. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Norma Lum of Logansport; one son, Eugene Lum of Logansport; one step-son, Richard LaGrander of Cleveland, Texas, one daughter, Kathryn Todd of Katy, Texas, a step-daughter, Karyl Thompson of Houston, Texas; two sisters, Ovada Langford and Effie Monk, both of Logansport, ten grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. Honorary pallbearers were deacons of the First Church.
