Interment was at St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery, with graveside services conducted by the Sabine Chapter 21 of the D.A.V. Mr. Leone died Thursday, March 14, 1996, at his residence in Zwolle. He was born to Frances and Sevado Leone, May 24, 1929. He was the fourth of fourteen children. He attended Alliance School, but completed his high school education in Zwolle. In 1949, he entered the U.S. Army, and after spending some time in the U.S., and a tour of duty overseas, he was honorably discharged in 1952. It was then that he married the former Charlene Martinez, and to them was born five sons, and one daughter. He made his living in the lumber and plywood industry, and retired April 1, 1995, from Willamette Ind. in Zwolle. He enjoyed being with his family, and working with his cattle on his small farm in Zwolle. Through the years, Mr. Leone has been an active member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Zwolle, and truly loved being a follower, rather that a leader. He has served as an usher, on pastoral council, finance committee, Eucharistic minister, cemetery committee, trustee, money counter, funeral ministry, head of Lenten Appeal, and bingo committee. He was a recipient of the Diocesan Medal of Honor in 1993, and is to receive the Papal Honor of Pro Essiesia Et Pontifice in April 1996, for his outstanding work in his church and community. This award will be presented to his family. Mr. Leone is survived by his wife, Charlene Martinez Leone of Zwolle; five sons, Roger Leone and wife Kathy, Greg Leone and wife Connie, Robert Leone and wife Sharon, Maury Leone and wife Vanessa, and Rodney Leone, all of Zwolle; one daughter, Melanie Sullivan and husband Jeff of Zwolle; nine grandchildren, Stacie Leone, Todd, Jason, and Cory Leone, Jeremy Leone, Jacob Leone, Terrance, Steven, and Lauren Sullivan, all of Zwolle; four brothers, J. W. Leone of Las Vegas, Nev., William Leone of Henderson, Nev., Simon Leone of Shreveport, and John Leone of Louisville, Miss.; five sisters, Mary Bailey of Henderson, Nev., Lucille Procell of Hemphill, Tex., Verna Leone, Edna Leone, Wanda Leone, and Clara Sepulvado, all of Zwolle. Pallbearers were John D. Ebarb, Wesley Martinez, Kenneth Ebarb, Anthony Ebarb, Ronnie Remedies, and Ernest Rodrigues. Honorary pallbearers were Lucille Sepulvado, Doris Jones, Mary Remedies, Marjorie Procell, Wanda Ezernack, Mary Lehr, and William J. Rainwater.
