Lewing 4 Jun 1943 - Last rites for W. E. Lewing, age 76 years, were held Sunday at 10 o'clock at the Lewing cemetery near Fisher. Rev. L. H. Newcomb, pastor of the Church of the Nazarene of Many, officiated. Interment was in the Lewing cemetery under the direction of Dennis-Green funeral Home. Active pallbearers were: Lyman Crittenden, Jack Woodson, C. A. Rials, Odis Derr, Ray Lewing and Amos Knippers. Honorary pallbearers were friends of the family. Surviving are nine sons, Claude, Floyd, Aud, Don, Lester, Hoyt, Gran and Con, all of Many, Cleve of Coushatta; five daughters, Mrs. Maude Bounds, Mrs. Ocie Hammonds, Mrs. Vallie Tedder, and Mrs. Elsie Adams of Many, Mrs. Effie Connor of Indian Town Gap, Pa.; 31 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; five sisters, Mrs. J. S. Leggett, Mrs. Sallie Fox, Mrs. Mamie Derr, Mrs. Surie Crittenden of Many and Mrs. Lola Bounds of California; stepmother, Mrs. Fannie Lewing of Fisher; step-brothers, Ed Lewing; two step-sisters, Mrs. Tressie Driggers and Mrs. Flossie Miller of Many. Mr. Lewing was a life-long resident of Sabine Parish, having lived and died within a mile of his birthplace three miles south of Many.
