Cook. Longora and his juvenile brother had been sought by the Sheriff's Dept. since Monday evening, for their involvement in a stolen motorcycle report in Zwolle. The youths allegedly stole a motorcycle in Zwolle, went to another home nearby, and stole a helmet. "The boys then traveled to Coushatta, where they broke into a place and stole a .38 pistol, some money, a radio, a pair of cowboy boots, and a wristwatch," Sheriff Cook explained. Early Tuesday evening, the Sheriff's Dept. received a call that the youths were out in the Hot wells community. "State Trooper George Elliott of the La. State Police, ran up on the boys, but they fled," Cook explained. "Elliott radioed for help, and we dispatched two deputies, Jack Napier, and Clarence Key to Noble." Quinton Brandon, Zwolle City Marshal, and Wayne Ebarb, a Zwolle deputy, joined the group to help find the youths. "They hid the motorcycle, helmets, and the radios in the woods," Cook continued. "They were coming out onto the road, when they saw the Sheriff's car," he stated. "They turned and ran back into the woods." The officers surrounded the area in an attempt to capture the boys. "Deputies Wayne Ebarb, and Clarence Kay were walking down a log road, when they heard a limb break behind them." Cook said. "They turned around just in time to see Longora raise up from a ditch and say, "Ya'll never take me to jail anymore," the sheriff related. The deputies tried to reason with the boy, but he raised the .38 pistol to the left side of his head and pulled the trigger. "One of the deputies said Steve turned to his younger brother and said, "Lay down and cover your head", just before he shot himself. The younger Longora will be turned over to the Juvenile Authorities.
