All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafiles.htm ********************************************** William "Bill" Baker Lunday William "Bill" Baker Lunday, 100, of Pelican, died at the DeSoto General Hospital in Mansfield, Tuesday, May 30, following a lengthy illness. Funeral services were held at the Mansfield Chapel of the Rose-Neath Funeral Home, at 2 p.m., Friday, June 2. Officiating was retired minister, the Rev. Roy E. Mouser. He was assisted by the Rev. Carl Munyon, pastor of the Pelican United Methodist Church. Pallbearers were B. E. Wilburn, Jim Joyner, Gerald McNemar, Tommy Woods, Paul Craig, and Glen Wilburn. Burial was in the Pelican Cemetery, with military graveside services conducted by Chapter 21, of the Disabled American Veterans of Many. A former field tax assessor, Mr. Lunday took the oath of office as Police Juror in his role of public service, and retired from working with the La. Tax Commission in Baton Rouge. He served in World War I, and was a member of the American Legion, and Veterans of Foreign Wars. He was also a devoted member of the Pelican United Methodist Church. Born in Blue Grass, Tex., in 1895, Mr. Lunday is survived by two daughters, Beth Magee of Pelican, and Martha Rose Nornberg of Anoka, Minn.; three grandchildren, Jan Magee Greer and husband Randy of Pelican, Ron Nornberg and wife Lana of Little Falls, Minn., and Ken Nornberg and wife Kathy of Brainard, Minn.; ten great grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Mrs. Zadlee Mason Lunday.
