S. Lemons August 20 and claimed the life of his father, Eligah Lemons. Uncle Eligah was born August 16, 1846 in Sabine parish. His parents died when he was four years old, leaving him an orphan. He lived with his aunt in Natchitoches parish until he married Miss Cloie Britt in 1865 and spent the remainder of his life in Sabine. Born in this union were five children: N. S. Lemons, Mrs. Sarah Jordan, Mrs. Louis Dillard (deceased), Mrs. Hulda McComic (deceased), and David Lemons (deceased). These children Mr. Lemons reared by the help of his sister, to be grown, except David who died at an early age. Uncle Eligah was a dutiful father, a cooperative and helpful neighbor, and one of the oldest and best citizens of this community. He joined the Cedar Grove Baptist church in 1896 and lived a consecrated Christian life until his death. Her was always ready to lend a helping hand to the needy and always stood for what was right.
