The prettiest flower in the garden was picked today, as our dear mother and grandmother entered into rest, on September 22, 1991. Heaven is beautified by her presence. Ethel, the daughter of the late Raphael D. and Josephine Malmay, was preceded in death by 3 sisters, and 3 brothers. She was born November 30, 1914, in Zwolle, La. She is survived by a dear son, Bobbie G. Rivers, a loving daughter, Marilyn (Sister) Sepulvado, both of Zwolle; and a stepdaughter, Ida Brown of Boyce, La. She will be sadly missed by her 10 grandchildren; 7 step grandchildren; and 14 great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews. "Othermama", as she was known by all her friends and relatives, was a homemaker. Listening to all types of music, talking on the phone, and watching baseball on TV (the Atlanta Braves was her favorite team), were all part of her hobbies. She loved flowers, and working out in her yard. She showed her love by cooking delicious meals for her loved ones. She was particularly famous for her baking cakes, yeast rolls, and Sunday morning breakfasts. After Mass, everyone was invited to her house for coffee, biscuits, and pepper. She was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church, where services were held Monday, Sept. 23, 1991, at 4 p.m. Burial followed in St. Joseph's Cemetery, with Father Danny Walsh officiating. Pallbearers were Louis Meyers, Terry Ferguson, Maury Leone, Roger Williams, Kenny Martinez, Sam Rivers Jr., and Pat Sepulvado.
