Mahaffey, 76, husband of Mrs. Lou Belle Mahaffey, died Thursday, Nov. 7, at his home in DeQuincy. A Mittie native, he had lived in DeQuincy 30 years. He was a retired construction worker, an Army veteran of World War II, and a member of First Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife; three sons, Clyde Welch of Reeves, David Mahaffey of DeQuincy, and Terry Mahaffey of Nederland, Tex.; four daughters, Mrs. Alberta Miller of Sulphur, Mrs. Carol Wright of Nederland, Mrs. Nancy Rainwater of DeQuincy, and Mrs. Nelda Thompson of Florien; two brothers, Bob Mahaffey of Oberlin, and Perry Mahaffey of New Common, W. Va.; three sisters, Mrs. Aline Stevenson of Lake Charles, Mrs. Maybel White of Oberlin, and Mrs. Mertie Johnson of South Carolina; 26 grandchildren; and 18 great grandchildren. Services were Friday, Nov. 9, at Snider Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. John Horton officiating. Burial was in Perkins Cemetery.
