Mayfield, 57, of Shreveport, were held Sunday, August 10, at 4 p.m., in the chapel of Wellman Funeral Home. Burial was in Centuries Memorial Park. A resident of Shreveport for most of his life, Mayfield died Friday, August 8, at 11:40 p.m., in Veterans Administration Hospital here, following a short illness. He was a salesman at Smith Furniture Co., a veteran of World War II, and a Baptist. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Thelma H. Mayfield; six sons, Roy M. Mayfield of New Orleans, Kenneth R. Mayfield, and Jimmy Lee Mayfield, Billy Mayfield, and Bobby Mayfield, all of Shreveport, and Philip H. Mayfield of San Diego, Calif.; three daughrers, Mrs. Glenda K. Castro, and Mrs. Delores Stephenson, both of San Diego, and Mrs. Billy Putch of Shreveport; three brothers, Raymond W. Mayfield of Zwolle, Welton H. Mayfield of Ferriday, and Carroll W. Mayfield of Princeton; four sisters, Mrs. Lurlene Carpenter of Shreveport, Mrs. Doris Bossier, and Mrs. Ora Lee Sayers, both of Logansport, and Mrs. Bonnie Grimsley of Beaumont, Tex., and seven grandchildren.
