Funeral services were held on Saturday, July 6, at 2 p.m., at the Pilgrim Star Baptist Church, with the Rev. D. A. Jones officiating. Burial was in the Pilgrim Star Cemetery, under the direction of the Jenkins Funeral Home. Pallbearers were Calvin Johnson, Loniel Maxie, C. D. Drew, Arthur B. Hunt, Joe Williams, Lenard Hickman, Elmore Allen, and Herma Maxie. Survivors include her half sisters, Mrs. Lovie Stoker of Florien, and Mrs. Obstable Young of Burker, Calif., seven cheldren, 4 girls, and 3 boys, Mrs. Odlee Drew, Mrs. Audry Jones, Mrs. Reccie Johnson, all of Florien, and Mrs. Oberia McDuffy of Paris, Calif., Ben Maxie, Ed Maxie, and Leomon Maxie, all of Florien, 43 grandchildren, 173 great grandchildren, 67 great-great grandchildren, and 4 great-great-great grandchildren. Mrs. Maxie was a devoted wife and mother, one who always put the interests of her family first.
