The Rev. Cloris Rogers officiated. Sister Maxie passed away on July 14, at the Sabine Medical Center in Many, at 4:30 a.m. Sister Maxie was a member of the New Jerusalem Baptist Church, and was a faithful member of the Household of Ruth. Early in life, she met and married the late Mr. K. D. Maxie. To this union there were no children born, but they were the foster parents of one daughter, which they later adopted. She is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Anita Wolfe Darwin of Many; one son-in-law, Mr. James T. Darwin, also of Many; one faithful daughter-in-law, Mrs. Sallie B. King of Many; four grandchildren, Mrs. Myrtis Joan King Garner, and Amanda Darshel Darwin, both of Many, Mr. John, and Terry King of Minneapolis; five great grandchildren, Carlandre Bussey, Mattie Bussey, James King, Johnathan King, and LaRicklyn Garner, all of Many; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends. Sister Maxie lay to rest at the New Jerusalem Cemetery in Many. Pallbearers were nephews and friends of Sister Maxie. Honorary pallbearers were the deacons of the New Jerusalem Baptist Church.
