The Lord is my shepherd; and I shall not want. He maketh me lie down in green pastures; he leadeth me beside the still waters. Ye, tho I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil; for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff comfort me. Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies. Thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runeth over. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life; and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever. We loved her, but Jesus loved her best. He called her in, out of her home, to live with him on Friday, May 23, at the Sabine Medical Center. She was born September 23, 1948, to Mr. and Mrs. Johnny Carheel. She joined the church at an early age, and here she remained a faithful servant until the end. Mrs. Johnnie Maxie left to mourn, her loving husband, Jimmy Maxie; her mother, Laura Mae Samuel of Shreveport; her father preceded her in death, Johnny Carheel; six brothers, Michael Carheel, and Johnny B. Carheel, both of San Diego, Calif., Gary Carheel of Many, Tommy Carheel of Zwolle, James White of Fisher, Danny Carheel, who preceded her in death; four sisters, Gladys Brazzle, and Jackie Wesson, both of DeRidder, Ruby Conway of Virginia, Theresa Carheel of Shreveport, and Ellen Walker preceded her in death. She had three children that will cherish her memories forever, Gabriel Carheel of Shreveport, Tawana Gray-Garner of Fisher, Robert Gray, Sylvester Maxie, and Stephen Maxie. She also left 10 grandchildren that will also miss her dearly; and a host of cousins, niece, and nephews.
