McPhearson, 73, were held at 3 p.m., Tuesday, Jan. 17, at Fellowship Baptist Church in Oak Grove, Converse. The Rev. Cecil Salley of Pleasant Hill officiated, assisted by the Rev. Milton Prothro of Haughton, and the Rev. Billy Burkett of Hanna. Burial was in the Oak Grove Cemetery, under the direction of Drewett Funeral Home. Mr. McPhearson, a retired Sabine Parish farmer, died at 11:06 a.m., Sunday, in a Pleasant Hill clinic, following a short illness. Born in Converse, Mr. McPhearson had lived there until about two years ago, when he moved to Pleasant Hill. Survivors are his widow, Mrs. Sophronia McPhearson of Pleasant Hill; two daughters, Mrs. T. E. Bossier of Converse, and Mrs. Iris O'Brien of Bakersfield, Calif.; three sons, R. W. of Long Beach, Calif., F. C. of Mansfield, and Terry of Hall Summit; a sister, Mrs. Tom Strickland of Converse; three step daughters, Mrs. W. W. Mawby of Shreveport, Mrs. H. S. McClanahan of Houston, Tex., and Mrs. W. W. Bailes of Crane, Tex.; nine grandchildren; and four great grandchildren. Pallbearers were John Burkett, Oliver Barrett, H. F. McClanahan, T. E. Bossier Jr., R. W. McPhearson Jr., and Alton Collins.
