McDonald 25 Nov 1938 - Mrs. J. A. McDonald, wife of J. A. McDonald, pioneer citizen of Converse, died at her home Sunday after a stroke of paralysis. Mrs. McDonald was born in Harrisonville, Miss., Simpson County. She was married to Mr. McDonald in 1875. Eleven children were born to them, six boys and five girls, all of whom survive her. Mrs. McDonald gave her life to Christ 63 years ago and has lived a Christian life ever since. She was a devoted wife and a mother to all. She could say "I have fought the good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith." Survivors are her husband, J. A. McDonald and children, Mrs. Dave Kelly, Daisetta, Texas; Mrs. R. S. Berry, Braxton, Miss.; G. C. McDonald, Lula; A. N. McDonald, Converse; W. G. McDonald, Many; Mrs. O. F. Neel, Converse; Mrs. R. D. Springer, Mooringsport; Mrs. Luther Horn, Killgore, Texas; C. B. McDonald, Teneha, Texas; H. H. McDonald, Converse; J. R. McDonald, Las Cruces, N. M. She has one sister, Mrs. Belle Haley, Birmingham, Ala., and two brothe4s, Wad Barlow and wade Barlow, both of Crystal Springs, Miss. Her grandsons were the pallbearers: James and Ray McDonald, Many; R. D. Springer, Mooringsport; James McDonald, Shreveport; Cecit and Elmer Kelly, Caspiana and Logansport. Rev. C. W. Williams of Many conducted the services, assisted by Rev. Young, Mooringsport; Rev. Nichols, Oak Grove, and Rev. E. J. Phares, Caspiana. Drewitt Funeral had charge of arrangements.
