McDonald, a former Sabine Parish resident, died in Las Cruces, New Mexico, Wednesday, Jan. 23, at the age of 83. The last rites were held at the Graham Chapel there, conducted by Rev. Wayne James of the Westside Baptist Church, of which he was a member. Interment was in Hillcrest Memorial Gardens in Las Cruces. He had lived in Las Cruces since 1935, and retired from farming in 1964. He was a veteran of World War I. Mr. McDonald was born Nov. 9, 1896, in Harrisville, Mississippi, to James A. and Alice Barlow McDonald. He moved to Sabine Parish when he was 16 years of age, and resided near Converse until moving to Las Cruces. He was married to Josie Lee Addison, and to this union were born three children, Wilma Ziehl, Murle Brake, and Glen McDonald, all of Las Cruces. He is also survived by two sisters, Lenora Neel of Ruston; and Allie Sharpe of Odessa, Tex.; twelve grandchildren, and 17 great grandchildren. Pallbearers were grandsons Bill McDonald, Donald Duke, Richard Ziehl, Paul Ziehl, Mike Ziehl, and Bobby Duke. Honorary pallbearers were Calvin Brake, Earl Ziehl, Steve Ziehl, Johnnie Ziehl, Jimmy Duff, and J. E. Odom.
