McDonald of Rodessa, La., died at his home Sunday, April 21, 1962, at 3:40 a.m. William was a native of Sabine Parish, having been born 5 miles west of Converse, on Dec. 9, 1891, the son of Claiborne Parish McDonald, and Jane Caroline Pye McDonald, both of whom preceded him in death. He was age 70 years, 4 months, and 14 days, a retired Magnolia Petroleum Company employee for 32 years. He was a member of Rodessa Methodist Church, serving as church school superintendent, and a member of the official board; a district steward of the Shreveport District, at the time of his death. He was a member of Mitchell Lodge No. 252 F. and A. M., a deputy Captain of the Caddo Parish Sheriff's auxiliary group, and a member of the Magnolia Petroleum Co., Annuitant's Group. Survivors include his wife, Ethelyn Bumgardner McDonald of Rodessa, La.; three sisters, Miss Fleta McDonald, Leesville, La., Mrs. L. Nugent, Vivian, La., and Mrs. Alice Harper, Denver, Colorado; a number of nephews and nieces, and other relatives. Funeral services were held Tuesday, at 10 a.m., April 24, 1962, in Drewett's Funeral Chapel in Mansfield, La., with interment in Converse Cemetery. Rev. L. J. Marcel, pastor of Rodessa Methodist Church, conducted the service, assisted by Rev. A. D. Ashby, Blanchard, Rev. W. R. Irving Jr., Mansfield, Rev. E. L. McKay, Mooringsport, all former pastors, and Dr. Jolley Harper, Supt. Of the Shreveport District. Pallbearers were R. Lee Smith, H. H. Adams, George L. Sutherland, W. H. Nugent, Dr. John S. Guttry, and Donald R. Smith. Honorary pallbearers were George L. Young, Virgil L. Gaines, Clyde G. Parker, men of the Rodessa Methodist Church, and men of the Magnolia Petroleum Co., Annuitant's Group.
