John Masters

  John Masters, 78, of Florien, died May 15, after a short
illness.

  Funeral services were held at the Plainview Baptist Church, May
16, with the Rev. Leroy Chance, the Rev. Efton Martin, and the
Rev. Virgil Taylor officiating. Burial was in the Mt. Carmel
Cemetery, under the direction of Warren Meadows Funeral Home of
Many.

  Surviving relatives include his wife, Mrs. Minnie Masters of
Florien; seven sons, Oscar Masters, Claudie Masters, Otha
Masters, and Floyd Masters, all of Florien, Ivy Masters of
Leesville, Curtis, and Jessie Masters, both of Springhill; one
daughter, Mrs. Tommie Thaxton of Florien; two brothers, W. F.
Masters of Many, and J. C. Masters of Pineville; two sisters,
Mrs. Rosa Oxley of Hornbeck, and Mrs. Lizzie Dowden of Leesville;
14 grandchildren; and two great grandchildren.

  Pallbearers were Bob Masters, Jimmy Rutherford, Charles
McCleary, Jerry Masters, Neal West, and Mike Bright.
