The accident happened Friday night, on State Highway 475, two tenths of a mile south of Zwolle. State Trooper Wingate Dowden told the INDEX that Ebarb was traveling into Zwolle, and Meshell was traveling north, out of Zwolle. The Ebarb vehicle crossed the center line, and into Meshell's traffic lane, and hit Meshell's vehicle almost head-on. Meshell was killed instantly. Ebarb was taken to Sabine Clinic and Hospital in Zwolle. The Ebarb vehicle turned one complete turn, and landed upright, 105 feet farther. Both vehicles were a total loss. The accident happened in a sharp curve, and Ebarb was traveling at a high rate of speed. Dowden said Ebarb has been charged with negligent homicide. Assisting Dowden in the investigation of the accident was Pfc. Clarance Miller.
