All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafiles.htm ********************************************** The Sabine Index - Mrs. Ruth McLanahan 28 Mar 1974 - Mrs. Ruth McLanahan, 75, lifetime resident of Florien, died in Florien on Thursday, March 21 at 10 a.m. following a short illness. Mrs. McLanahan was the widow of the late Amos Victor McLanahan. She was a charter member of the First Baptist Church of Florien, and actively participated in church affairs until the time of her death. She was also a member of the Eastern Star. Mrs. McLanahan was a former teacher at Florien High School. Survivors include two sons, Milton McLanahan of Charlotte N. C., and Ralph McLanahan of Lake Charles, a daughter, Mrs. W. L. Dees of Florien; two brothers G. G. Williams of Florien, and Merlad Williams of Greenville, S. C.; two sisters Mrs. Louis Lefkovits of Zwolle, and Miss Lovie Williams of Florien; 7 grandchildren; and one great grandchild. Funeral services were held at the Florien First Baptist Church on Saturday, March 23 at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Mack Brister officiating. Burial was in the Florien Cemetery under the direction of the Warren Meadows Funeral Home. Pallbearers were Phil Dees, Gaylon Smith, Robert L. Allen, Vic Dees, Tom Phillips, and Ross Williams.
