All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafiles.htm ********************************************** Mrs. Lylia Mae McAllen Mrs., Lylia Mae McAllen, 60, of Many, passed away in Many, Friday, June 3, after an extended illness. Mrs. McAllen was born in Marthaville, but has been a resident of Sabine Parish for 35 years. She received her B. S. Degree at Northwestern State College, and attained her Masters Degree of Education from Stephen F. Austin State College. This fourth grade teacher will be missed by many, for she taught for 29 1/2 years. Her knowledge and understanding was given to children in Converse, Fisher, and Many. Mrs. McAllen was very active in the Many First Baptist Church. She was also an active member of the Eastern Star Chapter of Many. Funeral services for Mrs. McAllen, were conducted Sunday, June 5, in the First Baptist Church of Many, with Dr. Kelly Fitzgerald officiating. Interment was in the Many Cemetery, under the direction of Warren Meadows Funeral Home. Pallbearers were Clark Pouncey, Henry Mims, Raymond Barnhill, A. L. Head, W. R. Miller, and Walter Powell. Survivors include her husband, Hoyt McAllen; one daughter, Mrs. W. E. Hayes of Many; three brothers, Elisha Campbell, and W. T. Campbell, both of Marthaville, and O. B. Campbell of Many; four sisters, Mrs. Lillie Thomas of Hornbeck, Mrs. Mary Veuleman of Marthaville, Mrs. Opal Crow of Beaumont, Texas, and Mrs. Lillian Crain of Morton, Miss.; and two grandchildren, Steven, and Elizabeth Hayes. She also had a host of friends and relatives.
