Bolton, for Mrs. Magness, who passed away in San Antonio, Texas, after a long illness. Mrs. Magness was the wife of Grover Cleveland Magness, who preceded her in death. She was born in Converse, on February 25, 1891, and was a lifelong resident of Sabine Parish. She was one of nine children of John Alfred and Priscilla Cates, pioneer settlers in Sabine Parish. Mrs. Magness is survived by six children, four sons, John C., and L. Benton of Orange, Texas, Colonel Willie C. of San Antonio, Texas, and D. Frank of Pensacola, Florida; two daughters, Mrs. Juana M. Snow of Shreveport, and Mrs. Kathleen Adamo of San Antonio, Texas. She is also survived by two brothers, J. E. Cates of Noble, and J. T. Cates of Converse; two sisters, Mrs. C. W. Tatum of Mansfield, and Mrs. W. E. Jackson Sr. of Converse. She had nineteen grandchildren; two great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Pallbearers were grandsons and nephews of Mrs. Magness. Final rites were held in the Sardis Cemetery.
