All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafiles.htm ********************************************** Opal Napier Wright Magness Funeral services for Mrs. Opal Napier Wright Magness, 84, of Converse, were held at 10 a.m., on Monday, June 17, 2002, at the Rose-Neath Chapel in Mansfield. The Rev. William Hasson, pastor of Midway Baptist Church, officiated. Burial followed at Sardis Cemetery in Converse. Mrs. Magness was born in Converse, and died at Sabine Medical Center on Thursday, June 13. She graduated from Northwestern State University, and received her graduate degree from Emory University in Atlanta, Ga. Before her retirement, she taught in public schools in north Louisiana for a number of years, and was a retired librarian. She is preceded in death by her parents, James E. Napier and Bessie Jane Ford Napier; her first husband, Newell O. Wright; and son, Arthur Oscar Wright II. Survivors include her husband, Willie Magness of Converse; one son, Dr. Newell O. Wright Jr. and Betty Church of Fort Walton Beach, Fla.; one daughter, Patricia Opal Wright Hall of Wildwood Crest, N. J.; one stepson, John Magness of Friendship, Texas; and four sisters, Maxine Kile of Converse, Betty Skinner of Florien, Barbara Leatherwood of Converse, and Carolyn Martin of Many. She is also survived by one brother, James E. Napier Jr. of Laurel, Miss.; two grandsons, Dennis R. Hall and wife Celeste, and Benjamin N. Hall, both of Wildwood Crest, N. J.; two great granddaughters, Anna-Faith Hall of Arlington, Va., and Meredith Steurnagel and husband Paul of Wildwood Crest, N. J.; and great grandchildren, Collin, and Isabella Hall. Pallbearers were grandsons, Dennis, and Benjamin Hall; stepson, John C. Magness, and Floyd Ford, John Tatum, and C. B. Leatherwood. Rose-Neath Funeral Home, Mansfield, La.
