Massingill, age 74, of Pleasant Hill, were conducted at the First Baptist Church at 3 p.m., Friday, October 20th, with Rev. J. C. Salley officiating, and the Rev. J. L. Stovall of Lake Charles, and Rev. J. Bryant Young of Carthage, Texas, assisting. Special music was rendered by Mrs. H. M. Prothro, Mrs. Thomas Hardee, and Mrs. Jack Dykes. Interment was in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery, under the direction of Drewett Funeral Home, Mansfield. Mrs. Massingill passed away suddenly Thursday morning, at 6 a.m., at the family residence, October 19th. Mrs. Onie Nelson Massingill was born in Shelbyville, Texas, the daughter of R. T. Nelson, and Nettie Booth Nelson. Her family moved to Louisiana in 1902, when she was in her early teens, moving here after her marriage near Pleasant Hill, for the past fifty two years. The town of Pleasant Hill lost one of their best citizens, and our heart felt sympathy is extended to her husband, family, and relatives. Survivors are as follows: her husband, John Massingill; two daughters, Mrs. D. M. Stovall of Carthage, Texas, and Mrs. W. A. Lanagan of Longview, Texas; one son, Fred Massingill of Dallas, Texas; three sisters, Mrs. A. B. Fox of Shreveport, Mrs. Maude Kelly, and Miss Lila Nelson of Mansfield; five grandchildren; two great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Pallbearers were as follows: Otha Woods, Johnny Murray, Jack Dykes, Sonny Gregory, Polk Rivers, and Clarence ?.
