All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafiles.htm ********************************************** David Lee Majors (Photo) David Lee Majors died April 6, 2003, at Bossier Willis Knighton Medical Center, after a lengthy illness. Mr. Majors was born June 26, 1930 in Seminole, Okla. He had to take medical retirement from his job with Civil Service at Barksdale Air Force Base in June 1972. He served in the Armed Forces form 1947 until 1952, and was a veteran of World War II, and Korea. He was a life member of Disabled American Veterans, Shreveport-Bossier Chapter 30, and VFW Post 5187 in Zwolle, La. David was active in both organizations, serving veterans and their families. Mr. Majors was preceded in death by his parents, John and Jessie Majors; sisters, Pauline Eckert, Betty Dickens, and Grace Nelson; brother Walter Wright. Survivors include his wife of 49 years, Elaine Wiggins Majors; daughters, Janet Ingram and husband John, and Karen Majors, all of Haughton; sister, Elta Long of Shreveport; grandchildren, Shane Ingram of Haughton, and Sr. Airman Jeni Ingram, stationed at Eielson AFB, Fairbanks, Alaska, currently proudly serving her country in Guam; and a host of nieces and nephews. Mr. Majors donated his body to the Dept. of Cellular Biology and Anatomy at LSU Medical Center, in the hopes that the research will help future doctors. A Memorial Service will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, April 19, at the DAV Chanter Home, 7012 Suntan St. in Shreveport. Friends and relatives are invited to come and help celebrate the life of David.
