All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafiles.htm ********************************************** Vikki Marie McGruder (Photo) Funeral services for Vikki Marie McGruder, age 53, of Dallas, were held Wednesday, July 15, 1992, at Freedom Missionary Baptist Church in Dallas. The Reverend Mack T. Fleming officiated. Interment was held at Laurel Land Memorial Park, under the direction of Hampton Place Funeral Home. Mrs. McGruder was stabbed to death after working hours in the back room of her Winnewood Village salon on Friday, July 10, 1992. She was a former resident of Sabine Parish. She attended grammar school in Zwolle, and was a graduate of Booker T. Washington High School in Dallas. She was the proprietor of a very prestigious hair salon, "Reflections by Vikki". In 1987, she was selected Entrepreneur of the Year by the Iota Phi Lambda Sorority. She was also a member of the Pylon Salesmanship, and the Black Chamber of Commerce. Mrs. McGruder was preceded in death by her husband, Shirlley McGruder. She is survived by her mother, Lillie Mae Miles of Dallas, Texas; her father, Matthew Holden of Louisiana; two daughters, Brandie Dayn McGruder, and Roslyn Echols, both of Dallas; four sisters, Alice Faye Ward Holden of Converse, Thelma Johnson, Maxine Coleman, and Edna Gaither, all of Dallas; four brothers, Leslie Holden, Johnny McClanahan, Leonard McClanahan, and Melvin McClanahan, all of Dallas; an aunt, Thelma Whitaker; three great uncles, Wiley McClanahan, Porter McClanahan, and Dan McClanahan of Galveston, Texas, and Robert McClanahan; and many other relatives; and numerous friends throughout Louisiana and Texas.
