Funeral services were held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, March 24, at First Baptist Church of Zwolle. Mr. McCormick was a member of the First Baptist, and was an inactive deacon. He was a lifelong resident of Zwolle, coming from pioneer families of Parrotts and McCormicks of this area. He was in business in Zwolle for many years. He also worked for the State Commissioner of Elections in eight parishes from 1960 - 1976. He was a member of the City Council for the Town of Zwolle from 1942 - 1950, and served as mayor pro-tem for eight years. He served eight years on the Supervisor of Election Board of Sabine Parish. Survivors include his widow, Irma McCormick of Zwolle; one niece, Dottie Neugebauer of Leesville; and one nephew, J. R. McCormick of Crossett, Ark. Mr. McCormick was preceded in death by one daughter, Daisy Claire McCormick, at age 17. Mr. McCormick was honored at the Holiday Inn in Natchitoches in his retirement from Commissioner of Elections. His employer, Douglas Fowler, lauded him for his honesty, faithfulness, and dedicated services to the State of Louisiana. He further stated, "I am a better man today than when he started working for me. I have tried to find a man in Sabine Parish, who would say an unkind word about Pete McCormick, and I could not find one. As we went along life's journey, and he touched my coat sleeve, I am a better man". Pallbearers were Mark McRae, Larry Neugebauer, B. C. Isgitt, Glenwood Bullard, J. R. McCormick, Scottie McCormick, Calvin Jones, and Ronnie Cole. Honorary pallbearers were the Board of Deacons of the First Baptist Church in Zwolle, Bryan Poston, and Cecil Tooke.
