  Funeral services for James Otis McCrery Jr. were held in
Leesville, Saturday, May 23, 1992, at 11 a.m., at the First
United Methodist Church, and a graveside service was held at
Forest Park East in Shreveport, on Saturday afternoon, at 3 p.m.,
under the direction of Beauregard-Vernon Funeral Home in
Leesville.

  Dr. McCrery died May 21, 1992, at Byrd Memorial Hospital in
Leesville.

  He was born in Glenmora, Louisiana on April 15, 1921. He
graduated from Byrd High School in Shreveport in 1938, attended
Centenary College, and was a graduate of the Southern College of
Optometry in Memphis, Tennessee.

  Survivors include his wife, Ida Bell of Leesville; three
sisters, Exell Lee of Forest Hill, Mildred Price of Los Angeles,
California, and Mary Lou Bruce of St. Louis, Missouri; one son,
James O. McCrery III of Shreveport; three daughters, Nancy
Whittington, Shirley West, and Claudia Ferry, all of Houston,
Texas; six grandchildren; and one great grandchild.

  Memorial contributions may be made to the Louisiana Lions Eye
Foundation.
