James R. Matthews

  James Roy Matthews, 32, of Mansfield, died in a fire Saturday
morning, at his home.

  Mr. Matthews was the co-owner in the Matthews Lumber Company in
Mansfield, and the Matthews family also operated a sawmill in Many
for many years, until it burned about a year ago.

  Funeral services were held Sunday, Sept. 5, at 3 p.m., in the
Drewett Memorial Chapel, with the Rev. Paul Biggers officiating.
Burial was in the Highland Cemetery in Mansfield.

  Survivors include his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Matthews of
Mansfield, and his grandmother, Mrs. Roy E. Thigpen Sr. of Mansfield.
