George M. Matthews

  George M. Matthews, 77, of Florien, died in the Sabine Medical
Center on Tuesday, March 11, 1986, at 6:30 p.m.

  Funeral services will be held today, Thursday, March 13, at 2
p.m., in the Peason Pentecostal Church, with Bro. Roy Thompson,
Dr. Hoyt Gandy, and the Rev. Milton Pray officiating. Interment
will be in the Mt. Carmel Cemetery, under the direction of Warren
Meadows Funeral Home of Many.

  Mr. Matthews is survived by his wife, Mrs. Grace Matthews of
Florien; seven sons, W. M. Matthews of Leesville, Cleveland O.
Matthews, Donald L. Matthews, and Charles M. Matthews of Houston,
Texas, Terry K. Matthews of Mooringsport, and Ralph D., and Gary
Matthews of Florien; six daughters, Dorothy L. McComic, Jean
Sharp, and Marilyn L. Marr of Florien, Sherry L. Manasco of Many,
and Brenda G. Wilson of Houston, Texas; one sister, Alice Forbis
of Many; 38 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; and three
great-great grandchildren.

  Mr. Matthews' body was taken to the church after 4:30 p.m., on
Wednesday, to lie in state until service time today.

  Pallbearers will be his grandsons.
