  Ethel Matthews - October 25, 1973

  Mrs. Ethel Matthews, 62, of Florien, died on Friday, Oct. 19, at
2 p.m. following a short illness.

  Mrs. Matthews is survived by her husband, Allen Matthews of
Florien; and 2 sisters, Mrs. Pearl Sneed, Many and Mrs. Kate
Nelms of Leesville.

  Mrs. Matthews body was taken to the Pingrove Baptist Church near
Peason and laid in state from 11 a.m. Saturday, until service
time on Sunday.

  Funeral services were on Sunday, Oct. 21, at 10 a.m. at the
Pinegrove Baptist Church. Rev. Glen Flenniken and Rev. H. H.
Tibbitts officiated. Burial was at the Middlecreek Cemetery under
the direction of Warren Meadows Funeral Home.

  Pallbearers were Tom Dowden, A. G. Bridges, Bryce McCullough,
Dan Volk, Chester Hilton and Norman Herrington.
