Maddox, Sr., died Sunday, Feb. 11, 2001, in Cedars Sanai Hospital in Los Angeles, Calif. He was born Sept. 13, 1938 in Zwolle. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jesse W. and Eva Sanderson Maddox. Mr. Maddox was a happy man, and led a full and happy life. He and his wife Robin were able to travel, fish, play golf, and just enjoy life and each other. They were devoted to each other. He treasured the many friendships gained throughout his lifetime; who could resist his quick wit and laughter, but he never forgot his friends and his hometown, Zwolle, which he loved. Mr. Maddox graduated from Zwolle High School, and attended Louisiana Tech University in Ruston and NSU in Natchitoches. He served time in the military. He worked hard, and was successful in business, a full Insurance Adjusting firm, with offices in Kingman, Ariz., and Las Vegas, Nev. He also held an office in several organizations during his career, and was always active in his community, wherever he lived. He was able to meet his goals, and attain his life-long dream of living in a small town where he could "holler" at his friends across the street. Last year he and Robin made Deepwater, Mo. Their home. Howard fought a hard and bitter battle against heart disease the last 14 years of his life. His determination knew no bounds, and death did not claim him easily. As children, we argued, as siblings do, and once he knocked my light out (accidentally, of course). He had a charm that Johnny, Larry, and I couldn't match, when punishment was due, and mother fell for it every time. But we love him anyway. As adults, we were a very close, loving family. We will miss you, little brother, our lives will never be the same, but we will keep your Robin close, and treasure our memories forever. Survivors include his loving wife, Robin; son, H. G. Maddox, Jr.; sister, Bobbie Reneau of Dayton, Texas; brothers, Johnny Maddox of Kinder, and Larry R. Maddox of Rancho Cucamonga, Calif.; and five grandchildren. If desired, contributions may be made to the American Heart Research Foundation, or your favorite charity in Howard's memory.
