Matthews Funeral services for Bobby Ray Matthews, were held at 10 a.m., Friday, in the chapel of Blanchard-St. Denis Funeral Home, with the Rev. Vernon Cargill officiating. Burial was in Memory Lawn Cemetery. Matthews, 58, of Natchitoches, died at 7:15 p.m., Tuesday, May 16, 1989, in Schumpert Medical Center in Shreveport. He was a former employee of the Federal Aviation Administration in Seattle, Wash., and Anchorage, Alaska. At the time of his death, he was an air conditioning and refrigeration mechanic at Northwestern State University. He was a member of the National Rifle Association, and the Natchitoches Chapter of the Wild Turkey Association. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Betty LaCour Matthews of Natchitoches; three sons, Jim Matthews of Provencal, David Matthews of Labaina, Hawaii, and Steven Matthews of Bremerton, Wash.; two daughters, Mrs. Susan Johnson of Bremerton, Wash., and Tammy Hall of Natchitoches; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Rufus Matthews of Robeline; two sisters, Mrs. Mary Larpenter of Natchitoches, and Mrs. Peggye Rivers of Many; two brothers, Harold Matthews, and Billy Matthews, both of Natchitoches; and three grandchildren. Pallbearers were Mark Matthews, Keith Matthews, Allen Heil, Ambrose Airhart, Ronnie Smith, and Danny Hall.
