Maddox, 69, of DeRidder, passed away on Wednesday, May 19, 1993, in the Beauregard Memorial Hospital in DeRidder. Funeral services were held Saturday, May 22, 1993, at 2 p.m., in the Hixson Chapel in DeRidder. Interment was followed in Pleasant Hill Cemetery. Rev. Vern W. Kirkland, and Rev. J. D. Young officiated the service. Mr. Maddox was a DeRidder resident of 30 years. He was a member of the Louisiana Hayride, Southern Blue Grass Association, co-founder of the Ozark Jubilee. He was Disc Jockey U.S.A., 1966-1967. He was president of the Crooked Creek Blue Grass Park, and Colonel on Board of Directors for the last four governors of the State of Louisiana. He was a former radio and television personality known as "Cousin Curt", member of the Three Pines Pentecostal Church for 25 years. He was a rancher, and an independent contractor at the time of his death. Survivors include four sons, Kennon Wayne Maddox of Marthaville, Larry Joe Maddox of Many, Steve DeWayne Maddox of Orange, Tex., and Rueben Maddox of DeRidder; two brothers, Petey Maddox of Dequincy, and Edgar Maddox of Port Arthur, Tex.; eleven grandchildren; two step grandchildren; and three great grandchildren.
