She was a founding member of the Peason United Pentecostal Church, where she was an active member of many years. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m., Sept. 26, at Peason United Pentecostal, with interment following at Mt. Carmel Cemetery. The Rev. Brooks Coburn, the Rev. Roy Thompson, and the Rev. M. C. Green officiated. Survivors include six sons, W. M. Matthews of Leesville, Donald L. Matthews of Houston, Texas, Ralph D. Matthews of Florien, Charles M. Matthews of Houston, Texas, Gary D. Matthews of Robeline, and Terry K. Matthews of Mooringsport; six daughters, Dorothy McComic, Jean Sharp, and Marilyn Marr, all of Florien, Linda Lewis, and Brinda Wilson, both of Houston, Texas, and Sherry Snell of Hornbeck; 42 grandchildren; 63 great grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild. Mrs. Matthews was preceded in death by her husband, George Matthews; son, Cleveland Matthews; parents, Marshall and Eller Cobb; and sister, Mildred Cobb. Warren Meadows, Many, La.
