All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafiles.htm ********************************************** ** Henry Mitchell Mr. Willis Henry Mitchell, 62, of Robeline, passed away at 7 a.m., Saturday, Feb. 17, while fox hunting, of an apparent heart attack. A lifetime resident of Natchitoches Parish, Mr. Mitchell was married in 1930 in Robeline, and was an active member in civil affairs. He was City Marshal of Robeline for 17 years, a deputy sheriff with the Natchitoches Parish Sheriff's Office for eight years, and an active member of the Northwest Louisiana Fox Hunters Association, and the Hickory Grove Congregational Methodist Church. He was also a former member of the Louisiana Peace Officers Association, and was the treasurer of the Natchitoches Area Action Association. Services were held at 2 p.m., Sunday, Feb. 18, at the Hickory Grove Congregational Methodist Church, with the Rev. Wilmer Birdwell, and the Rev. Raymond Rodeheaver officiating. Interment was in the Shamrock Cemetery, under the direction of First National Funeral Home. Survivors are his wife, Vera McCrory Mitchell; one son, Mr. W. H. Mitchell Jr. of Bossier City; one daughter, Mrs. Sue Lambert of Robeline; one brother, Sammy Mitchell of Robeline; six sisters, Mrs. Lola Brown, and Mrs. Irene Tarpley of Many, Mrs. Kate Leonard of Pleasant Hill, Mrs. Maude Veuleman of Robeline, Mrs. Fannie Morris of Many, and Mrs. Mamie Scarbrough of Mobile, Ala.; and five grandchildren. Active pallbearers were Lonnie Weeks, Charlie Weeks, Luther Shoemaker, Myrtle Davis, Watson Teer, Jimmy Colston, Warren Scarborough, and Jack Dockens.
