All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafiles.htm ********************************************** The Sabine Index - Mrs. Hattie May Mitchell 6 Jul 1956 - Funeral services for Mrs. Hattie May Mitchell, 56, who was killed late Wednesday June 7, when her car collided with a gravel truck at the Powhatten-Allen crossing, was conducted at the Calvary Baptist church at 10 a.m. Friday, June 29, with Rev. V. L. Prewitt officiating. Interment was in Many cemetery under the direction of Warren Funeral Home. Mrs. Mitchell was attempting to cross Louisiana Highway No. 1 when the collision occurred. She was taken from the wreckage alive and rushed to a local hospital where she died a short time later. Survivors are her husband, Leon D. Mitchell of Many; son, Leon D. Mitchell, Jr., of Many, daughter, Mrs. Harvey Derrbonne, of Osceola, Ark., brothers, Fred Hayes of Portland, Ore.; George Lester of Baton Rouge; C. W. Lester, Walter Lester, both of Natchitoches; sister, Mrs. C. E. Settle, Sr., of Natchitoches, and five grandchildren. Pallbearers were John Tarver, Alva Tarver, Wallace DeLatin, Joe Bill McCormick, Frank Eason and J. S. Pickett.
