Mitchell, 50, of Zwolle, were held at 11 a.m., Monday, March 29, at Southside Chapel of Rose-Neath Funeral Home. The Rev. Thomas Wilson, pastor of Trinity United Methodist Church of Jennings, Rev. Jerry Mitchell, pastor of Provencal Baptist Church of Provencal, and Rev. Leo Beck, pastor of Trinity United Methodist Church of Shreveport, officiated. Burial was at Mt. Zion Cemetery in Montgomery, at 2 p.m., where Masonic rites will be observed. He died Friday, March 26, at his residence, following a lengthy illness. Mr. Mitchell was born in Montgomery, but had been a resident of Zwolle for the past eight years. He was a retired salesman for Oxford Chemical Co., and was a member of Zion United Methodist Church, Montgomery, Masonic Lodge No. 193, Shreveport, and was the former manager of Sammy Gill Park on Toledo Bend. Survivors include his parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. C. Mitchell, Shreveport; four daughters, Suzan Richey, Alexandria, and Diane Watkins, Pineville, Ginnie Melder, Calcasieu, and Patsy Meylian, Lafayette; three sisters, Natalie Wilson, Jennings, Nelda Matassa, and Dee Palmer, both of Shreveport; two brothers, Harold Mitchell, Converse, and James Mitchell, Elm Grove; and three grandchildren. Pallbearers were W. T. Hovard, Joe Melton, Glynn Carver, W. W. Rogers, Robert Byrd, and Woody Sonier.
