Thomas Mitchell, wife Sybil and daughter Ruby Jean.) Mrs. Thomas Smith Mitchell of Florien was notified by the war department of the death of her husband. Sgt. Mitchell entered the service Feb. 2, 1943, trained at Camp Swift, Texas, went overseas October 1943, was in England nine months, Frances seven months, Germany two months. He was also in Belgium and Luxembourg. He was awarded the Co bat Infantry badge Jan. 17, also had Good Conduct medal, Rifle medan and Driver medal. The telegram stated that Sgt. Mitchell died March 4 from wounds received in battle somewhere in Germany. Mrs. Mitchell is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Roy Smith of Florien with whom she is making her home.
