Officiating were Hoy Leach, pastor of Lakeside Baptist Church. Assisting was Rev. Thomas A. Wilson, pastor of Lakeview United Methodist Church, Minden. Burial was at Union Springs Cemetery in Converse, with Masonic, and Eastern Star graveside rites. Mr. Mitchell died Saturday, Feb. 26, at his residence, after a lengthy illness. He was born in Montgomery, La., and had lived in Converse for 16 1/2 years. He was a retired self employed contractor, a member of Lakeside Baptist Church, Masonic Lodge #083, Logansport, York Rite, Keatchie OES Chapter 220, where he was the Past Patron, and the Present Patron. He was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. C. Mitchell; brother, Reginald Mitchell; two daughters, Sandra Mitchell, and Deborah Pickett. He is survived by his wife, Ann Mitchell of Converse; one son, Donald Ray Mitchell and wife Vanessa of Broussard; one daughter, Karen Smith of Carencrow; stepson, George Gilbert Goodeaux and wife Debbie of Broussard; stepdaughter, Debbie Mitcham and husband John of Converse; three sisters, Natalie Wilson and husband Rev. Thomas A. Wilson of Minden, Nelda Gregg and husband Leon, and Delores Palmer and husband Billy, all of Shreveport; one brother, James Mitchell and wife Madeline of Elm Grove; granddaughter, Misty Mitcham; five grandsons, Jason, and Justin Mitchell, Coby Smith, Curtis Goodeaux, and John David Goddeaux; and numerous nieces and nephews. Pallbearers were from Mount Vernon Masonic Lodge #083, F&AM.
