All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafiles.htm ********************************************** Mr. Joseph "Curtis" Mitchell Services for Mr. Joseph "Curtis" Mitchell, 88, were held at 10 a.m., Friday, Dec. 3, 1993, at Rose-Neath's Southside Chapel in Shreveport. Officiating was Rev. Carl Munyon, pastor of Trinity United Methodist Church in Shreveport. He was assisted by Rev. Tom Wilson. Rev. Wilson is pastor of Lakeview United Methodist Church of Minden, and was Mr. Mitchell's son-in-law. Graveside services were at 2 p.m., Friday, at Mt. Zion Cemetery near Montgomery. Mr. Mitchell died Tuesday, Nov. 30, after a long illness. He was born in Winn Parish, and was a resident of Shreveport since 1948. Mr. Mitchell was retired from Commercial Construction Work. He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 54 years, Mildred Mitchell; son, Reginald Mitchell; and three grandchildren, Jimmy Mitchell, Deborah Pickett, and Sandra Mitchell. Survivors include two sons, Harold Mitchell and wife Ann of Converse, James Mitchell and wife Madeline of Elm Grove, La.; three daughters, Natalie Wilson and husband Rev. Tom Wilson of Minden, Nelda Gragg and husband Leon, and Dee Palmer and husband Billy, both of Shreveport; two sisters, Vera Jones of Shreveport, and LaVaine Krone of Monroe; two brothers, J. P. Mitchell of Winnfield, and Burgess Mitchell of Natchitoches; 17 grandchildren; 31 great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Pallbearers were Donald Ray Mitchell, Dennis Joseph Mitchell, Lamar Wilson, Colt Palmer, George Gilbert Goodeaux, and Ted Richey. The family would like to express a special thanks to Dr. Signh, and the Three East Nursing Staff at Willis Knighton South in Shreveport.
