Recie Medlock Sr., 60, of Many, were held at 1 p.m., Wednesday, January 24, at the Kings Chapel AME Church in Many. Bishop Donald G. K. King, and presiding Elder R. L. Stanton officiated the services. Interment followed in the Kings Chapel AME Church Cemetery, under the direction of Jenkins Funeral Home. Rev. Medlock passed away January 21, at the Schumpert Medical Center in Shreveport, following a lengthy illness. He was born November 11, 1929, to the late Edgar Medlock, and Lorena Randolph. Medlock married the former Ruby Lee Williams December 2, 1950. He was baptized, and joined the St. Mark C.M.E. Church, under the late Rev. Wall. He later united with Kings Chapel AME Church, under Rev. P. H. Morris, in 1956. He was called in the ministry in 1964. He was ordained an Elder under the late Bishop Ball in 1968, in the central Louisiana Conference 8th Episcopal District. He pastored Grant Chapel AME Church, and Bethel AME Church in DeRidder. He was serving as pastor of Kings Chapel AME Church in Many, and Logan Chapel AME Church in King Hill, upon his death. Medlock also served in the United States Air Force for 3 years, was former president of NAACP, member of Sabine Parish School Board for 13 1/2 years, served on the Board of Trustee Central Louisiana Bonner Campbell College, Committee on Social Action and Committee on Evangelism, and Church Growth, served on the State Board for the State of Louisiana. He leaves to mourn, a loving devoted wife, Mrs. Ruby Medlock; three daughters, Jeanetta Green of Many, Mrs. Diane Milligan of El Paso, Texas, and Mrs. Debra Gayle Garner of Many; three sons, Rev. Recie Medlock Jr. of Alexandria, Stanford Medlock of Norwalk, California, and Chevolos Medlock of Many; one sister, Mrs. Alice Harris of Dallas, Texas; four brothers, Willie Authur Medlock, Ray Medlock, both of Many, Rupert Medlock of Lynwood, California, and Roy Medlock of Dallas, Texas; one aunt; 14 grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
